Following the success of previous editions of CICTA, the last held in 2010 in Costa Rica, this conference allow us to further discuss the issues related to pollution and environmental toxicology in an Iberoamerican context and to strengthen the links between the scientific communities on both sides of the Atlantic Ocean.
The National Technology Center Mercury Decontamination has participated with poster presentation "Restoration and revegetation of the waste heap of Cerco San Teodoro, Almaden (Ciudad Real, Spain)".
The waste heap of Cerco de San Teodoro, Almadén (Ciudad Real) was for centuries the deposit for both sterile from mining and slang of metallurgiacal processes, reaching a size of 3.5 millian tons and accupying an area of 10 hectares. The restoration works has achieved to restore the vegetation of surface and the landscape integration of the heap, in this place unique World Heritage nominated in July 2012.
