The National Technological Center for Mercury Decontamination has participated in the Meeting of the MED POL Focal Points was held in Malta from 16 to 19 June 2015.
   
The National Technological Center for Mercury Decontamination has elaborated the “Guidelines on Best Environmental Practices for the environmental sound management of mercury contaminated sites” commissioned by the Programme for the Assessment and Control of Marine and Coastal Pollution in the Mediterranean Region (MEDPOL) and the Regional Activity Center for Sustainable Consumption and Production (SCP/RAC of the Mediterranean Action Plan (UNEP/MAP). The Guideline has been commissioned to the National Technological Center for Mercury Decontamination based on the vast technological experience in mercury management and its offer scientific and technological support to eliminate the hazards related to the presence of mercury in products, emissions and wastes.

The Regional Activity Centre for Sustainable Consumption and Production (SCP / RAC) is a center for international cooperation with Mediterranean countries in terms of development and innovation in the productive sector and civil society from production and consumption patterns more sustainable. The Center carries out its function under the Mediterranean Action Plan (MAP), an organization belonging to the United Nations Program for the Environment.

The Guideline has been presented by staff of National Technological Center for Mercury Decontamination in the annual Meeting of Focal Points of MED POL held in Malta during the days 17 and 18 June for approval.
